Italian Tradition Meets Modern Ambition – Fueled by Flexible Financing
November 24, 2025
Andy’s story is rooted in the quintessential American dream, seasoned with a strong Italian heritage. His family’s tradition of owning a pizza shop began in 1975 when his father, an immigrant from Naples, Italy, first opened the doors. Andy grew up in the pizzeria, learning the business from the time he was 12 years old.
At 21, Andy opened his own restaurant, Andy’s Pizza. However, the business landscape was undergoing a dramatic shift. “When my dad opened his shop, he could buy a week’s worth of inventory for about $4,000,” Andy recalls. “Today, those costs are three times higher, but we can only raise the price of a pizza about 20% before we start losing customers.”
Facing severe inflation and intense competition that had driven profit margins down significantly, Andy knew he had to evolve.
The Vision
Andy’s goal was simple: leverage his expertise to create a new, sustainable concept, a 6,000 square foot location incorporating a craft brewery and a bar to boost margins.
He began construction, but disaster struck when the original contractor took the initial funds and vanished, leaving Andy with a partially finished building, a legal mess, and a severe financial hole. When he sought additional financing, the bank immediately turned him down; the contractor’s lien and legal uncertainty made him unbankable.
The Solution
Stuck in a crisis, Andy needed capital fast. He was familiar with revenue-based financing but hadn’t found the right fit; other companies treated him like “just another number.” His search led him to Forward Financing, where he found a true partnership.
Forward quickly evaluated the revenue at the original Andy’s Pizza and provided the working capital needed to restart construction. The alternative funding was instrumental, enabling him to move forward and even obtain his own contractor’s license to lower costs.
The Impact
The funding’s impact was profound: Forward truly dug him out of the hole. Andy completed construction, transforming his business into a successful bar, brewery, and pizzeria concept. The new location, now known as Andy’s Pizza/Inferno Brewery, was a huge success, allowing him to pay off his financing quickly.
The true value of the partnership was proven when he closed the original Andy’s Pizza for the final move. This temporary shutdown created an immediate cash flow crunch.
“When I closed the old shop, Forward was the only funder willing to work with me,” Andy remembers. “They gave me payment relief, which meant a lot. It showed that when one hand helps the other, you can get through anything.”
Today, Andy navigates a challenging economic climate better than most. He feels secure knowing he has a flexible partner who provided the essential lifeline to turn a devastating setback into a tremendous opportunity.
