How a Boston-based Tech Company Found Agile Growth with Local Financing

March 26, 2026

An Entrepreneurial Pivot

Olumide Adebo’s story began in 2010. As the IT director for the City of Boston’s Health Commission, he developed cutting-edge software to track disease symptoms – an innovation that grew into a successful consulting business. But by 2014, Olumide saw the technological tides turning and made a strategic pivot.

He founded Dolume, a Managed Service Provider (MSP) that acts as a dedicated, outsourced IT department for small-to-midsized businesses. His mission was clear: to level the playing field by giving these smaller companies access to the same enterprise-level power as global corporations.

“A company will come to us with 20 servers in-house, some of them starting to get old,” Olumide explained. “Instead of them replacing that hardware, we go in there and replace it with virtualization services, moving them into the cloud.”

By bridging the gap to platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, Olumide ensures that local businesses – which are often the last to adopt new tech – have the tools they need to compete. Today, his small but mighty team is not only serving clients but is also deeply invested in developing young tech talent right here in Boston.

The Search for the Right Capital

As Dolume evolved into its “2.0” version, Olumide needed financing to bridge cash flow gaps and seize new opportunities. He knew he didn’t want a traditional bank loan, and the answer came from his community.

“I run my company out of a coworking space, which is an irreplaceable ecosystem of support for startups,” he said. “A couple of other companies had used revenue-based financing, so I started doing some research.”

A broker eventually connected him with Forward Financing. The discovery that Forward was also a Boston-based company was the final decision maker.

A Local Partnership with Forward

For Olumide, choosing a financing partner was about more than just capital; it was about the relationship. “One of the things about being a small business is that you get better support closer to home,” he noted. That local connection was a key factor in his decision.

The impact was immediate. The capital from Forward provided the resources to navigate the ebbs and flows of the business cycle. “It gives you the ability to be agile from a business perspective,” Olumide shared.

That partnership proved its value again as economic conditions shifted. Olumide has taken advantage of the flexible nature of Forward’s revenue-based financing product, which allows for payment relief when revenue decreases – a feature he described as extremely helpful. It’s this combination of accessible, flexible capital and strategic human support that helps businesses like Dolume thrive, no matter the climate.

Olumide is helping Boston’s businesses reach for the clouds, and Forward is honored to be the local financing partner that helps keep his own business soaring.
