The Impact of Summer Giving Week

September 7, 2021 | Company News

September 7, 2021 – This August, Forward Financing launched its second Giving Week. To recognize the nonprofits that our team members care about, the company’s People and Culture team asked employees to nominate the organizations that support valuable causes, and five were selected to receive a $1,000 donation.

“One of the reasons why I’m so proud to work at Forward Financing is our commitment to helping our community,” said Shannon Braley, Vice President of People. “As a mission-driven organization, we highly value supporting the nonprofits that matter most to our team.”

From supporting early education, veterans, and childhood disease research, the company donated to a wide variety of important initiatives during its Summer Giving Week. The dozen other organizations that were nominated and not selected received a smaller donation. Jozlyn Plummer, People and Culture Generalist who leads the company’s fundraising and volunteer initiatives, said that the campaign’s contribution totaled over $8,000.

After several years of various fundraising campaigns, Forward Financing launched its first Giving Week in December 2020. Given its popularity, the People and Culture team introduced it again this August to support more organizations that matter the most to the company.

“Giving Week is a chance for our team to share the nonprofits that they are most passionate about,” said Plummer. “It brings us together and helps us learn more about the incredible work that so many organizations are doing!”

Forward Financing Fundraising Campaigns

Earlier this year, the company started working with Millie Giving, a giving and volunteering platform. Since Forward Financing offers a 1:1 company match for all donations of all sizes up to $1,000, Millie allows employees to submit and track their company match donations easily.

Forward Financing organized several fundraising campaigns over the past few months in support of Mental Health Awareness Month and PRIDE Month. From encouraging employees to donate to nonprofits that support mental health and LGBTQ+ initiatives, along with other organizations, Forward Financing has matched over $1,700 in employee contributions this year.

The company also gives every employee two paid volunteer days a year. Employees can use Millie to sign up for company-sponsored group volunteer activities, with upcoming events scheduled at Habitat for Humanity, Community Servings, and Pine Street Inn.
