June 10, 2021 | Company News

June 9, 2021 – The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce recently honored Forward Financing as one of the Small Businesses of the Year for Community Impact.

Recognition for Community Impact

The annual Small Business of the Year Awards showcase the contributions of businesses to the community in six categories. Forward Financing was recognized for the Community Impact category for demonstrating “a commitment to enhancing the future of the Greater Boston community through a focus on social impact.”

“At Forward Financing, we believe that small businesses are the cornerstone of our economy,” said Justin Bakes, the company’s co-founder and CEO.  “When small businesses do well, we all do well. That’s why we started Forward Financing –  to help small business owners spend less time finding capital and more time helping their customers and growing their business.”

Supporting small businesses in the Greater Boston region has always been one of the company’s top priorities. Over the past several years, Forward Financing has provided over $18 million in funding to over 360 small businesses in the region. The majority of this funding has gone to underserved small businesses that cannot obtain financing through traditional sources like banks or the Small Business Administration.

Dedicated to Underserved Small Businesses

In 2020, Forward helped its small business customers make it through the most challenging months of the pandemic by providing fast payment relief to thousands of customers and helping hundreds more apply for Payment Protection Program loans. The company was recently recognized by the American Business Awards as one of the Best Customer Service Departments of the Year, recognizing the company’s dedication to putting its customers first.

“Congratulations to the six honorees of our annual Small Business of the Year Awards. The region’s small businesses have always been the heartbeat of our economy, fueling job growth and economic opportunity in our communities. Through the challenges of the pandemic, small businesses exhibited grit and perseverance. During the economic recovery, we must continue to support, celebrate, and champion small businesses,” said James E. Rooney, President and CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.
